Warlingham and St Wilfrids Win National Competition - Wednesday, April 04, 2012

 

Having won the regional qualifiers for the National FDS Carnegie Cup, St Wilfids School in Crawley went on to the Finals in Leeds and won the trophy, beating 14 other qualifiers. 

 The competition is for year 6 schools. The format is playing 5 a side Futebol de Salao, using the small weighted ball which makes for skilful and clever play. Top goalscorer Tim Rivers (2nd left) won the Golder Boot as top scorer and player of the tournament.

We had a great time  playing a friendly competition of Futebol de Salao at Welwyn with Brazilian Soccer Schools teams from Hertfordshire, Harrow and Ealing.
