STRUCTURE OF BSS SALISBURY & ANDOVER SESSIONS

Sessions are booked in 6 week blocks. Each session includes ball mastery and a different Skills Badge topic:

Week 1: Ball Mastery – Moves to Beat Players, Feints & Defending

Week 2: Ball Mastery – Floor to Air Moves, Balances, Traps, First Touch & Control

Week 3: Ball Mastery – Turns & Changes of Direction

Week 4: Ball Mastery – Passing, Receiving & Shooting

Week 5: Ball Mastery – Game Play (Matches) & Game Vision Training

Week 6: Core Skills – Individual Training Guides

Our sessions always start with 5 to 10 minutes freestyle/practice time.

Most sessions will include some ball juggling (keepy-ups) as these massively improve a player’s first touch and control.

Our sessions finish with small sided matches, either the Brazilian 5-a-side game of Futebol de Salao (smaller heavier ball which encourages a skilful passing game) or conventional football.

Core Skills Week

The Core Skills week is a group practice session of our core skills. There are 10 different core skills that have been designed to make players as comfortable as possible with the ball. They are a mixture of ball coordination exercises and simple moves to beat players. All the moves are practiced regularly during our weekly sessions and the children should become very familiar with them over time. The children perform each individual skill as a group and have 30 seconds to complete as many as possible. The scores are then used by the coaches to plan sessions and to produce individual training guides for each child. The scores are purely used for a training guide and it isn’t designed as a competition. However, children that excel and achieve certain levels will be invited to join our Academy. Academy players work towards trials with the BSS National Squads and professional clubs.

Weekly Payments

We will no longer be able to accept weekly payments unless specific permission has been sought. This is for planning purposes as numbers have been extremely erratic lately with the weekly payers. Also collecting money at the start of sessions is cutting into our coaching time to the detriment of the sessions. All block booking forms will need to be filled out from now on as this is a legal requirement. Only the child’s name and a signature are required if no details have changed from the last fully completed form.
