On Sunday 17th April 2011 John Farnworth proved the impossible is possible after freestyling/ball juggling for the whole 26.2 miles of the gruelling London Marathon. He kept the ball in the air and completed the marathon in 12 hours and 15 minutes to raise money for the Kick4life charity. This charity delivers health education, HIV testing and life skills programmes for the orphans and vulnerable children of Lesotho in Southern Africa. The money is still coming to the charity.
After this amazing accomplishment in which he broke another world record John said “I have worked with Kick4Life in the past and know what an incredible difference the charity makes to the lives of young people in southern Africa. I really wanted to do a challenge that would push me to the max and raise money for the charity.” This was his toughest challenge to date and while most people would consider this to be enough of an achievement John is already looking for his next challenge.
John developed his skills through Brazilian Soccer Schools after reading Simon Clifford's 'Learn the Brazilian Way'. He joined the Manchester branch 11 years ago at the age of 14 and has never looked back.
