Brazilian Soccer Schools After School Club
This is an ideal way to both learn and make friends…
Girls Only Sessions
Ladies football is currently one of the fastest growing participation sports in the UK, though many girls are denied the opportunities to take part because quite often their local clubs are for boys only.
Through Socatots and BSS girls are more often quicker to learn and develop their skills for football as technically they can develop and show devotion to the task ahead.
Through our girls only sessions there will be a progression opportunity to our BSS Academy, with the prospect of representing BSS North Staffs in games and tournaments.
Recently BSS graduates Katie Wilkinson and Lauren Cheshire were called up to represent their country.
National Squads
The National Squad coaching team involves a team of seven coaches, all with an established background within the ICFDS. The team undergoes a number of in-service training events each year as part of the ICFDS coach education curriculum and further specialist education with the ICFDS and its support structures as part of its elite coach development programme.
In 2007 the team had worked diligently with ICFDS Regional Co-ordinators and support structures to implement the new ‘blueprint’ for the squads – a document that sets out the directives for the future development of our elite players. It is an evolution of the ICFDS training concepts and contains everything the ICFDS will be working on and working towards with the squads and our players drawn from our experiences over the last decade as well as implementing new coaching systems and procedures that will eventually see our players given the best support and preparation to graduate into national and international football.
Players can be forwarded to the National Squad on the recommendation of their regional Brazilian Soccer Schools Head Coach.
How can I make The National Squad?
ICFDS (International Confederation of Futebol de Salão) National Squads offer our players at Brazilian Soccer Schools (BSS) North Staffordshire an alternative route into the professional game. Based upon our experiences of 'Elite Player Development' in Brazil and that of top European Dutch, French, Spanish and Italian Club sides, where football skill and technique are at the forefront of their training.
This is fantastic news for the children of North Staffordshire, as our experience of Professional Academies has been very disappointing, with almost all clubs prioritising height, strength and aggression above technical ability, creativity and ball control.
One-to-One Sessions
With the emphasis on developing individual skill levels, ball control and improving all round technique, Brazilian Soccer Schools (BSS) North Staffordshire can help players of all ages make the most of their ability.
Our coaches often work with Professional Players on an individual basis, analyzing strengths and weaknesses in their game and putting together programmes to improve their technical ability.
"Two hours training in the morning that most professional clubs do is simply not enough. I think that the future will increasingly bring in roles for the individual coach to work with players on their skills. It already happens with speed and strength training, and I think it should also be the case with individual skills. Every ambitious player should look at doing this." - Simon Clifford.
Simon Clifford and other ICFDS (International Confederation of Futebol de Salão) Head Coaches have worked 'One 2 One' with players such as; Michael Owen, Jay Jay Okocha, Wayne Rooney, Theo Walcott, Micah Richards, Jermaine Jenas, Gareth Bale and Dexter Blackstock.

Schools and Community
Brazilian Soccer Schools (BSS) North Staffordshire is looking to build an unrivalled reputation by working alongside Primary Schools, Secondary Schools and Institutes of Higher Education in North Staffordshire. We are looking to offer and use new ideas for using Futebol de Salão to enhance 'Multi-Skills Development' through the National Curriculum, to the majority of the county's PE departments.
Our coaches are also available to present assemblies, demonstrating Brazilian Soccer Skills and talks about our work with Legendary Brazilian players like Pelé, Careca, Carlos Alberto and movie stars like Kiera Knightly. At the heart of all our work is the importance of determination, an open-mind and humility. These are the qualities we have found in most of the successful people we have worked with, and therefore we are keen to promote this ethos to all young children. Every year we hold annual tournaments for both Primary and Secondary Schools around the UK - ICFDS Schools Cup (Year 6 only), ICFDS Girls Cup (Year 6 only) and FDS Carnegie Cup (Sixth Form only). Taster sessions can be provided dependant on availability. We offer breakfast clubs, lunch time clubs, after-school clubs, curriculum coaching, PPA and school team football coaching.
Team Training
Brazilian Soccer Schools (BSS) North Staffordshire coaches are available to coach any local teams of any age groups either junior, youth or adults, boys and girls/male and female. These training sessions are purely about developing the players technical skill by using our methods and purposely designed football. The Brazilian coaching philosophy and something we follow at Brazilian Soccer Schools is: "Achieving technical competence before moving onto tactical or game play,"
It doesn't need over complicating and that is why most Brazilian players have good techniques, which helps their skill and the flair associated with Brazilian players. With the increased training time and hard work, BSS can work alongside clubs/teams and offer excess training time as no player is going to succeed in football, if they do not work hard, they should also work individually each day to improve themselves, it takes many hours of practice to master something and is vital for the player’s personal development and can also help enhance the team's progression during the season.
Freestyle Sessions
Freestyle is the art of expressing yourself with a football, whilst performing various skills with any part of the body (except hands). Similar in style to Juggling Circles and Futvol, it has become a widespread sport across the world and is demonstrated by many – including Brazilian Soccer Schools World Champion, John Farnworth. All you need is a ball and you can do it anywhere. Through practise, practise, yes more practise you too can juggle the ball and perform an array of skills.
Brazilian Soccer Schools aim to take all areas of the game to new levels whether it be mental conditioning, physical conditioning, tactical game play, technical skills, etc. The ability to do ball juggling/kick-ups on all areas of the foot is a key element of a young footballer's technique, since it promotes not only a good first touch but also promotes the additional qualities of concentration, mental discipline and a sound attitude to training. A players first touch, control of the ball is crucial in football and has a considerable impact on the ability to shoot, pass and volley. So freestyle will also help the players individual development as a footballer and all round games will improve.
Futebol de Salao Leagues
Futebol de Salão is a 5-a-side version of football of South American origin that is played with a smaller, heavier ball that has virtually no bounce. The game became very popular in Brazil where players such as Pele, Rivelino, Zico right through to Juninho, Ronaldo and Rivaldo were brought up first playing Futebol de Salão before moving on to conventional football. Following FIFA's decision to promote the game of Futsal, Futebol de Salão has virtually died out in South America and is now developed globally through the International Confederation of Futebol de Salão who see the game as being the best start for children in football.
Simon Clifford was determined to maintain the true nature of the game and set about developing a coaching structure to run alongside the game from his base in the UK. Simon founded the International Confederation of Futebol de Salão to keep the game alive and to introduce the game and training programme to children throughout the world. Originally setting up Brazilian Football Academies and Soccer Schools in the UK, the International Confederation of Futebol de Salão now oversees the game throughout the world and has centres up and running in numerous countries.
Skills Badge Sessions
The Skills Badge scheme plays a vital role in BSS coaching sessions. Not only is the scheme great as it ensures that all the children work through the varying aspects of the game of football covering topics from passing to dribbling and of course our select core skills but it does a lot more. The Skills Badge scheme will form part of every session, however dedicated skills badge sessions are set up so players can dramatically improve their technical ability. These consist of a 12–13 week course with assessments taking place at the end of each course.
The children will love the challenge, they thrive on having a focus and a goal to achieve. This is why the Skills Badge scheme works so brilliantly alongside the core BSS sessions that are run. The scheme is able to challenge every single player in the session regardless of their own individual skill level. Each players aims and targets are individual illustrating through the right amount of application and focus they can achieve anything. It is important to remember that Rome was not built in a day and nor will your child be turned into an elite footballer in a day. It takes a lot of time and dedication for the players to fulfil their potential and as long as the child is willing to put in practice at home then they will have every chance of reaching their goals.
